Madewell 1937, J. Crew’s “younger”, “hipper”, Eddie-Bauer-meets-Abercrombie clothing store, has partnered up with online boutique ShopBop to create a limited-edition denim collection.

The line features seven denim products:
1. The Ex-boyfriend Jean, retailing for $200
2. Station Skirt, retailing for $130
3. Boilersuit, retailing for $150
4. Switchyard Shorts, retailing for $130
5. Dispatch Vest, retailing for $125
6. Vintage Flare Jeans, retailing for $200
7. Workwear Jacket, retailing for $138
Wow, the prices are steep. I can’t exactly envision anyone dropping $130 today for a pair of cut-off denim shorts or denim vests. But, the clothing line is cute!
I’m not exactly sure what would prompt Madewell and Shopbop to unite forces to come up with an expensive denim clothing line. It seems like all the high-end designers today are parting up with companies like Target and Payless to create fashionable low-budget lines, because that is what recessionistas are interested in.
